Customer Center - Email Support - How to set up mail filters using Inwave's web mail processing rules.

There are two ways to handle spam when using the webmail. You can have a filter route messages marked as SPAM moved to a different folder where you can check them occasionally before deleting them manually, or have a filter automatically delete the messages from our mail server.

To route SPAM: messages to a different folder:

1. Log into the web mail server.

2. Click on the Personal Account Options menu and choose "Manage Mailboxes". screenshot

3. Scroll down to Create Mail Box, type SPAM in the box, and click on the button.

4. Click on the Personal Account Options menu and choose "Change Processing Rules".screenshot

5. Click on the red "click here" 'You do not have a mailing rule. To add a rule, click here.'

6. Click on the drop arrow on the right side of the Field Window and select Subject.screenshot

7. Click to put a dot in the Contains circle.

8. Click in the Phrase box and type SPAM: in the box.

9. Click on the button. (you may need to scroll the page down to see it).

Netscape 4.x users will have to skip down to step 11 and do that first, then come back to step 9.
10. It will now show a Rule - SUBJECT contains SPAM:

11. Scrolling further down, you will see a choice of:

Move the message to this mailbox:
Forward the message to
Delete the message

Leave the dot in the circle next to Move the message to this mailbox: and type the name SPAM for a new folder to route those messages to.
12. Click on the button at the bottom.

Messages tagged as SPAM: will go into the SPAM folder, where you can periodically check them to be sure they are junk e-mail, before deleting them. You mustoccasionally check and delete the junk messages from our mail server as they count against your 5 megabyte mailbox space limit on the mail server.

Alternatively, you can tell our mail server to automatically delete anything marked SPAM: in the subject line. If you choose to do this, you will not have to review and delete the junk mail, however:
Once our server deletes the message it is unretrievable.

To have our server delete messages tagged SPAM:

1. Log into the web mail server.

2. Click on the Personal Account Options menu and choose "Change Processing Rules".screenshot

3. Click on the red "click here" 'You do not have a mailing rule. To add a rule, click here.'

4. Click on the drop arrow on the right side of the Field Window and select Subject.screenshot

5. Click to put a dot in the Contains circle.

6. Click in the Phrase box and type SPAM: in that box.

7. Click on the button. (you may need to scroll the page down to see it).

Netscape 4.x users will have to skip down to step 11 and do that first, then come back to step 8.
9. It will now show a Rule - SUBJECT contains SPAM:

10. Scrolling further down, you will see a choice of:

Move the message to this mailbox:
Forward the message to
Delete the message

click to put a dot in the circle next to
Delete the message.
11. Click on the button at the bottom.

Now all messages tagged SPAM: by our mail server filters will be automatically deleted.
